Oh hey, it’s Team Rocket these guys again!

I ninja-updated the very first strip of this comic. The art’s still the same, but the text is completely different. Check it out and let me know what you think!

The new text (on the first page) seems appropriate it looks really good!

keii4iiJanuary 13, 2016 @ 7:35 PMReply

Thank you! :D

Hello! I’m new to this comic, and it’s AWESOME!!!! I admire your backgrounds because they look like a traditional painting. For some reason the comic sometimes blurrs into pixels all over the place, so I can’t read it (I don’t know what the Suyori with the pink lights wants–it blurred when she started to say why she wanted the little girl {I’m still on remembering the names!}) Not sure if you can fix this, and please don’t make it a huge issue–I can deal with it. Does this comic only work on a computer? I use a mobile device.
On the other hand, Danbi’s name reminds me of the Vietnamese word “Bahn bi,” a food :). I also thought he was a guy, but then he turned around on the cliff and I thought he was a girl. Turns out he was a guy. :D oops!

CantcomeupwithanameJanuary 15, 2016 @ 12:18 AMReply

Oh wait, I just went to your Deviantart and them your Tapastic amd I can read it there. You can forget what I said up there. ;; Unless you want to fix it for others, but I won’t tell you what to do. :D
Great English, by the way!

keii4iiJanuary 15, 2016 @ 7:47 AMReply

Yikes! Yeah, the blurring thing must be a mobile-only issue. Tapastic would be best for now! Sorry the site was giving you trouble.

CantcomeupwithanameJanuary 15, 2016 @ 7:27 PMReply

Don’t be sorry, it’s the intertubes’ fault! :) I’ll just lurk in Tapastic.
I’m still thinking about “Ittan Nohm.”

CantcomeupwithanameJanuary 17, 2016 @ 2:49 AMReply

Hmm, wait, about my “Good English” remark–I thought you lived in Korea but your Deviantart said otherwise! I thought so because I saw comments about how this was originally in Korean–darn, jumping to conclusions! I’m sorry, it wasn’t ment for offense! Please don’t be offended, I thought since it was in Korean that you were in Korea! I also read somehwere by you that English was your 2nd language! I’m very sorry (and regretful of posting that!)
I’m sorry! My sorry amounts up over the beautiful beautifullness of your image (which is a lot): http://keiiii.deviantart.com/art/The-Rainbow-Dragon-529922282
On the other hand about the boy in the picture: “H-HIM.” http://www.heartofkeol.com/eng/001-03/
Again, I apologise! A really deep bow to you!

keii4iiJanuary 17, 2016 @ 2:59 AM

I didn’t even notice the remark; I was too busy freaking out over “ONOES SITE BROKEN.” XD Don’t worry about it!

CantcomeupwithanameJanuary 18, 2016 @ 4:13 AMReply

One more comment, my ego bothers me too much: “Banh bi” not “Bahn bi–” typed too, fast. ‘Kay, I’m done. No more for me. Restraint!

ÕwooJanuary 17, 2016 @ 2:33 AMReply

Caught up now! Woot! How long do these pages take?
Question, I thought Korean doesn’t have indefinite/definite articles? (a, an, the)
When Ethan the stilt-bear talks in Korean, he doesn’t use those articles, so…? Uh? Does it have indefinite and definite articles?

keii4iiJanuary 17, 2016 @ 2:49 AMReply

I never do these things in one sitting, so I’m not sure how long it takes! What I know is that usually, the parts that you see in the finished version are the least time consuming. The scripting and thumbnailing (very rough sketching) take longer, and cleaning up the thumbnails into an inkable state can also take a while.

Korean has articles but doesn’t use them the same way English does. Ethan breaks Korean in ways that are impossible to directly translate into English, so I have to find other ways to brokenify his speech. D: It never comes out as good as it sounds in Korean!

ÕwooJanuary 17, 2016 @ 2:57 PMReply

Yeah, I understand now. Probably is impossible, because English has messed up way of putting words compared to Korean and Japanese (I heard they have the same grammar rules). The only Korean words I know are 다음문장 and 늑대.

keii4iiJanuary 17, 2016 @ 8:46 PMReply

That’s a rather peculiar selection of words. XD

Korean and Japanese share similar basic structure (Subject Object Verb), but that’s actually the most common structure out of all documented world languages, if my sources are correct!

ÕwooJanuary 17, 2016 @ 10:03 PM

Ah. All the languages I have been studying go with the subject verb/predicate thing (unless it’s a question becuase then it might be verb subject [this is for two languages of three, counting my native toungue]).
Also: Those backgrounds are beautiful. *Envy*

keii4iiJanuary 18, 2016 @ 2:16 AMReply

Yeah, I think most Latinate languages being SVO makes it seem SVO more common than it is, since Latinate languages are very widely spoken. Interestingly, Latin itself is SOV (with quite a bit of wiggle room for the word order, which appears common across SOV languages).

I’m glad you like the environments! I love drawing them, although they don’t always love me back. :’)

CantcomeupwithanameJanuary 17, 2016 @ 6:26 PMReply

@Keiiii I can’t reply to the stream above, haha! I thought my first impression here would be a bad one! I hope you’re not angry. I will now gladly express my gratitude to you being alright with that.
감사합니다!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope that’s right–I looked in dictionaries to find how to say “thanks” formally but I couldn’t find it, and the ones I did would either betray my age or be creepy (me not knowing yours). So I used this one in which would work in practically all situations. I know one Korean person but they’re away. Everyone else around me is Vietnamese/other Korean person I know I hardly know at all. :)

CantcomeupwithanameJanuary 17, 2016 @ 7:21 PMReply

I hate when speech comes out wrong. Once, a webcomic artist joked she had noodely appendages and I said “Ahhhh!” as in “Gasp! I did not know this!” but after a while I realised it sounded like a scream. But honestly, why should anyone judge people ’cause of their looks? Fashion is stupid.
In this case, it was an assumption, like What a Douchebag did with the Danbi the Girl thing.

keii4iiJanuary 17, 2016 @ 9:08 PMReply

Yeah, that’s a pretty useful one! The thing with culture and language, though, is that you can’t really expect “thank you” to be the appropriate thing to say given the same situation. So if you were to compare the Korean dialogues and their English translations for HoK, sometimes you’d find completely different sentences for the same scene. I should probably talk about that in detail sometime, maybe during an intermission. :)

CantcomeupwithanameJanuary 17, 2016 @ 10:46 PMReply

Awesome! I should say “Thank you” again, but that’s spam. Oh wait, I just did, oops. I should stop now, I’m commenting too much. But not before I rant on about your beautiful backgrounds. Oh, wait, I can’t do that! I’m a terrible writer! So I’ll express it like this: frkffnfksf, jsdms,jf kmckmkm,a.knclnoihdelknlknlaknxojxsnlqinljnaljnljnaljnljn.knbaaklbkjb,jbshowww

keii4iiJanuary 18, 2016 @ 2:16 AMReply

That is far more expressive than anything I could have written. XD

ÕwooJanuary 20, 2016 @ 6:48 PMReply

So when does this comic update? This website says “Mondays and Thursdays” while Tapastic says “Thursdays.”

keii4iiJanuary 21, 2016 @ 1:43 AMReply

Yikes, I need to fix that! It used to be Mon/Thurs, but now it’s Thursdays only. Thanks for letting me know!
