But Lushaka, you can’t use that double-border bubble! Danbi owns the patent/copyright to that stuff!

“Geoduck” is pronounced like “gooey duck.”

That’s right, first creep him out and then be insulted he doesn’t trust you!

keii4iiJuly 7, 2016 @ 5:51 PMReply

I don’t think he’s insulted. He could have taken an offense at what was said, but didn’t; he’s just trolling him for fun. XD

Wow, Danbi, that’s just like a stereotypical girl.

keii4iiJuly 7, 2016 @ 5:51 PMReply

What do you mean?

ÕwooJuly 9, 2016 @ 2:59 AMReply

I mean screaming and “having less nerves” than the manly men.
The last three panels has something that kinda reminds me of that. At least he didn’t faint like those women from old movies.
(I’m sorry if this offends you)

Also, curious, (sorry if it has been said before), but if Keol an alternate universe Korea? Geoducks are native to North America (at least that’s what the internet said), and considering the fact that the people freaked out when they saw Ethan, I thought it might be a good explanation that they don’t leave Keol really, or if they do they don’t leave that general area. (Sorry if this is a really stupid question.)

I don’t see either of those two things (screaming/ “having less nerves”) as girly? In fact, I don’t see how this is seen as a sign of having less nerves. I’m not offended, but I am genuinely puzzled. The only part where I can see any “girly-ness” is when he goes EEK.

I’m actually wondering if this is a cultural difference thing. Behaviors that are considered neutral, or even bold in one culture may be perceived as passive or “girly” in another culture. Shouting at a near-stranger who’s much older than you is considered extremely bold (almost unthinkable) in the local culture. It’s the opposite of having less nerves. The expected behavior in this situation is more like “no, I didn’t mean that exactly…” followed by silence + looking down.

Keol isn’t on Earth at all. :) But even if this were on Earth, travel is very difficult for the vast majority of folks in this kind of a location. No cars, no paved roads, lots of mountains everywhere. Even basic maps aren’t that easy to find, so you’re restricted to routes/places that your family/ friends/ neighbors know.

Most folks can’t afford to go on an extended trip anyway, even if they had a map and knew how to read it. Their fields and paddies aren’t going to farm themselves!

…Forget I said anything about the girly thing. Sorry about that.

keii4iiJuly 11, 2016 @ 5:35 PM

Whoa, no need to apologize! Maybe I got too excited because I enjoy discussing different perspectives. I understand that not everybody does, though. I’m still in the process of trying to figure out how to do this without making anyone uncomfortable…

CantcomeupwithanameJuly 9, 2016 @ 2:55 AMReply

But Danbi, I like geoducks.
I still have to congratulate Lushaka on being able to copy Danbi’s voice! But now he has to pay Danbi a fee for that “copyright.”

keii4iiJuly 9, 2016 @ 7:19 PMReply

Lushaka’s good at on-the-spot acting and doing impressions. :)

eekeeDecember 16, 2019 @ 5:18 AMReply

I nearly died laughing at the insult. :D

I don’t think you have the skills to stop him from following you, so yes, he can do that.
