Could maybe make him be a North Korean refugee, as they are so closed off that it wouldn’t be unusual for there to be no records or to not know how things work. I also think that people tend to be more understanding of North Korean refugees, though I could be wrong about that.

Also, people are going to think the horns are weird, though hopefully in most cases you can pass them off as weird hair decorations.

He’d need registration / papers, otherwise he must pretty much live in hiding like in his home-world. And if they want to do that by the official way somebody is going to have a closer look… Ethan himself is an evident foreigner with no connections, his help would not be sufficient.

I do not know how difficult is to be an illegal immigrant in Korea (in terms of avoiding the authorities), but I’d guess it is harder than in the US or even in most of Europe.

On the plus side, in modern 21th century Korea there is a high chance the horns could be sold as a weird medical condition and they would not think he is a demon or something. I mean the authorities, not some people on the street.

As I stated before, how would you even get papers from North Korea if that is where he is from? From what I have heard, the issue is getting out of North Korea and not getting kidnapped back in, not being sent back there due to no papers. Ethan could just get a passport and be “visiting” while happening to “stumble upon” someone escaping and help them out. Getting them over to the US is another story. In a more shady sense, if Ethan still has his powers on Earth, he could teleport to steal some secrets and use that as a bribe for them not asking too many questions about Danbi (Danbi handing it over of course in return for safety). If you were really running for your life over a frozen river because North Korea was going to kill you for leaving, it’s hard to see them saying that you have to go back. Not saying that it might not happen, but less likely than some other places that have better international relations.

Impossible to tell in the English version, but in canon Danbi speaks a real life southwestern (like, the southwestern corner of South Korea) dialect. North Korea has its own highly distinctive sound/ grammar/ local vocab. That might make it harder to make him pass as a North Korean…

I do not know how North Korean papers come into the picture. I did not talk about North Korean papers at all. If they wanted him as a registered refuge in South Korea, he would be getting South Korean papers. Part of the process.
