Lushaka is officially thicker in the thighs than his waist. I actually think that angle in the last shot makes his thighs look a little thinner than how they are supposed to be X’D

I’ll be back with the next chapter after a 2-week break. See you soon!

Well, big cats have very muscular thighs, but bigger than the waist is just a tad exaggerated. They look fine to me :)

keii4iiApril 25, 2017 @ 11:41 PMReply

In Lushaka’s case, they’re extra-extra-extra large. His upper body isn’t nearly as beefy (though still very athletic-looking), so he’s definitely bottom heavy!

WanderingsketchpadMay 6, 2017 @ 5:29 PMReply

He’s good heavy 8D

BlekeApril 26, 2017 @ 5:51 AMReply

Saggy pectorals in the last image. ;)

I’m no master on anatomy, but I think they should only go halfway down the ribcage.

keii4iiApril 26, 2017 @ 1:59 PMReply

There are other issues in there too, some that I was aware while/after drawing it, and some that I wasn’t. It happens all the time, with every update. Unless the issue is affecting how the art tells the story (wrong expression, the mood isn’t quite right, etc), I usually just move forward.

But about the pec in question — I THINK it would’ve looked okay in a different pose? But cconsidering how his arms are lifted, the pecs should probably move along with the arms. Hadn’t thought about that while drawing it. Now that I’m more aware of it, hopefully I’ll do better next time… hopefully!

BlekeApril 26, 2017 @ 4:19 PMReply

I want people to point out my mistakes, so I try to do the same favour to others. :)

But yeah, it’s a tricky angle. It seems that the pecks don’t droop that much even when the arm is lowered. http://hippie.nu/~unicorn/tut/img/basics/humananatomy/torso-skel-musc.jpeg

keii4iiApril 26, 2017 @ 6:03 PMReply

Well, not everyone is the same, and some people react really badly to unsolicited criticism. IMO it’s better to only give crit when they’re specifically requesting it.

BlekeApril 26, 2017 @ 6:32 PM

Terribly sorry if you are one of them!

Most people seems to like constructive feedback, requested or not.

keii4iiApril 26, 2017 @ 6:53 PMReply

I’ve seen more than enough flip-outs to know it can’t be “most people” who like unsolicited criticism… not to mention cases where the creator privately told me how unsolicited crits bothered them, but they couldn’t be honest about it in public because they didn’t want to seem defensive.

In my case, I prefer to focus on my priorities: clarity and storytelling. While criticisms on other aspects of the comic are still valid, they lead to awkward situations (like right now) where my honest response is “err, thanks, but my mental capacity is limited and I gotta focus on other things.” Normally I don’t feel comfortable expressing that because that could make the other person feel unwelcome. But since we’ve come this far into this topic, I feel it’s better said than not.

BlekeApril 27, 2017 @ 5:56 AM

Thank you for letting me know how you feel about it!

WanderingsketchpadMay 6, 2017 @ 5:27 PM

Yea I’ve seen a LOT of people flip out too with unsolicited crits, even if a person merely asks if they can give some feedback lol

I’m a person who loves feedback, but I also wanna hear about the things I may have done alright too so it’s not just negative ontop of negative. Helps cushion my ego lmao

MytheeApril 29, 2017 @ 8:50 PMReply

Your lighting/color use is so good that I was super distracted by how good that looked and didn’t notice anything off about pecs position. Also, there’s a lot of alternative human anatomy that people ignore is a thing??! Humans can be proportioned in… a lot of ways.

keii4iiMay 15, 2017 @ 2:03 PMReply

Every time someone says the corners of the mouth align vertically with the middle of each eye… I’m like, yeah, my face is an example that doesn’t do that. (mouth small enough to fit between my eyes, if you were to move it around!)

Aku: EXTRA THICC

MytheeApril 29, 2017 @ 8:50 PMReply

Thanks. You just made me imagine Lushaka twerking.

DarthChinchiApril 29, 2017 @ 2:34 AMReply

Aww, this is such a cute page. They are bonding ^^

One thought though. Carrying on shoulders is a lot harder than on he back itself. Neck and shoulders will start to hurt at some point. I can understand why you chose this pose though, as it looks more masculine to sit on the shoulders. And on shoulders the one getting carried do not have to hold on. It’s just going to hurt/feel heavier if they have to go for a longer distance.

keii4iiMay 15, 2017 @ 2:01 PMReply

Don’t worry, Ethan’s squatted far heavier weights. And it’s called a shortcut for a reason :)

The most stable way to carry an adult is probably how soldiers do it? But yeah, no way Lushaka would agree to do that.

WanderingsketchpadMay 5, 2017 @ 11:04 PMReply

I 1000% love that shot on the last bit of them unclothed LOL. Yes… very nice show of anatomy :D

keii4iiMay 15, 2017 @ 2:06 PMReply

There’s a really old sketch somewhere, that I did of Lushaka and Ethan pillow fighting with Danbi watching on the side, concerned-looking. I should redraw that sometime. Yes, they were all clad in boxers with appropriate prints (Danbi’s had floral prints) XDDD

WanderingsketchpadJune 5, 2017 @ 11:52 PMReply

that’s awesome. I’d LOVE to see it as a ‘redraw’ where you show the old alongside the new :3

AshiheiMay 11, 2017 @ 3:23 AMReply

new reader here just read the entire comic got one thing to say:
need more Q.Q

just something that i dont quite understand:
when ethan was about to be robbed he had 0 problem fighting against 3 guys with longswords ready to kill (his only fear was to kill them but he wasnt worried about his own safety at all) i mean we did see him brawl at school but thats a different league isnt it? (except if the kids fought him with knifes then it gets comparable lol)

same with the name stealer… 0 fucks given about the guy that got eaten by something human esque (pretty sure witnessing cannibalism would be pretty scarring) + blood everywhere etc

just wondering if it was like a time issue cause it wouldve taken alot of panels to go into detail there or if ethan just isnt easily shocked?

keii4iiMay 15, 2017 @ 2:26 PMReply

Sorry it took a while to reply! I love your question so much. It’s an opportunity to talk about the characters as people rather than plot devices.

It’s true that Ethan isn’t the most… easily rattled. Part of it is indeed his nature; he’s got a protector in him that just needs to mature. But there’s also the fact that he’s never felt the fear of mortal danger. He’s certainly BEEN in mortal danger (e.g. the three armed bandits, and a few cases not shown in the comic), but it never sunk to the core of his bones. Mostly the threats just passed too quickly, and there were often other factors (like not wanting to kill other human beings) distracting him from the threats.

Down the road, though, he’s gonna face greater dangers than a mere bandit trio. Different people freak out in different ways, and it’ll be interesting to how his is — and what sets it off.

That half-eaten guy, though? There was a BIG distractor there, namely the giant dead cat. Ethan wasn’t there when the dude was eating him. But if you mean the guy who was tied up to the tree, I think he was too scared to even panic properly by the point they got to him. The fear-induced numbness is part of the reason why he fell off the cliff. His brain wasn’t functioning, and he wasn’t fully aware of his surroundings.

AshiheiMay 21, 2017 @ 4:52 AMReply

ye i actually can relate to it now
i guess danger like that needs to sink in properly and especially if all u see is a giant dead cat that doesnt have the most gruesome wounds on it it could be easy to just not realize theres a half eaten guy there lol
and because of his own past he could relate to the little boy that lost his father way more aka grasp the situation more…

i REALLY like the way he reacted (or didnt) now… all u see in anime is ppl seeing a dead body and instantly freezing till they get killed even if they fought battles before which doesnt really make sense if u think about it … ur trained u know ur going into a life or death situation, u know ppl can die etc and u just dont have the time to fully realize what happened and what that might mean for u in the heat of battle… viewers have the time and safety to think about that but not the protagonist

so yeah thanks for showing me a totally new perspective on this kinda situation ur awesome! :D and im happy u liked my question :3
