Pretty much every big panel in this comic looks better when panned/scrolled rather than as a static viewing experience. There is something immersive about the scrolling experience with these panels. I’m very happy how it all works that way, even though I’m not 100% sure how I managed to achieve that!

I don’t know why but my brain obediently yelled “Ooooh pretty tree noodles”

No no, ‘obedient’ works just fine – and I agree !!

Stiff noodles, but still pretty tree noodles!

I love the honesty of your own page-comment ;-) How you ‘admit’ to positively surprise yourself !!
And yes, scrolling *does* make the long, scenic panels v e r y immersive. Especially since you’re a master in making them ‘move’ so cinematically !!

Long panels in other scroll-comics i’ve seen, work only when you tilt your head (their *young* target-audience probabely just tilts it’s phone, *old* me is on a monitor) – as a ‘wide’ but not as a ‘tall’ view.
Starting the scroll on the long final panel here initially made me tilt. But the diagonal ‘camera’-angle here works wonderfull b o t h ways!
Big compliment – color me truly amazed.

And the ‘tree-of-life’ itself: of course the coloring/ lighting is gorgeous, but is it just me who sees its leaves as heart-shaped?
As in ‘tree-of-life’ = ‘tree-of-love’….

The leaves are loosely based on taro leaves/ “elephant ears,” but heart-shaped works, too!

Agree very much with the cinematic effect! I find it extra challenging to plan this kind of thing (a feeling of expansiveness) vertically too, so it’s super impressive!
