Long strip is long.

Heart of Keol follows the mobile-friendly, scroll-y format of Korean webtoons. Although this particular strip is extra long, all strips will be at least longish, so I hope everyone’s okay with it.

How do you render light so well?! I’m jealous!

I like the motif of repeating the pose from page 1 in the figure at the bottom of the first scrolling panel here. I also like the framing of Dad between this male character and hooded female. Intrigued.

You’re already a superb artist, both at representation and storytelling. The colors blend perfectly to create the sense of melancholy.

I really like the art style it plays to the mood of your story beautifully

I like how big the sky is compared to everything else, especially in the first frame of this page. Even though Ethan is close to the camera, it still makes him appear small and helpless to resist the malevolent changes in his life. It lends to the pathos of the character without making him appear excessively emotional- once again, running in sync with your minimalistic approach, which I appreciate.

You’re right, I do use the staging a lot to convey moods. Things like expressions, dialogue and body language are definitely crucial, but without staging, it’s not complete. I’m glad you found it effective here.

AHHH, the fire is so well drawn, and the tree stump is amazing! The golden grass makes the tree in the first panel even better!

Thanks! Fire is actually surprisingly easy to paint sometimes, because it’s so formless.

First, excuse my bad english.
His work Seems excellent, so ask permission to translate it to Spanish, as a fan. Obviously Placing the Corresponding credits, and links to the Original work c:

Thank you for your interest, but I do not want my work to be translated and reposted at this time. For now, I want to be the only person uploading my comic, so I have full control over the files and have the ability to delete/update the files as I see fit.

I appreciate that you asked, though!

The atmosphere in there pages is honestly so stunning…can’t wait to be able to read more of the whole comic ;;

Thank you! I actually added this page as a part of a revision, like 2 years after posting it originally. I’m happy with the revision!

Doing a reread, a few weeks after finishing my first read. (Had to let the story soak into my soul for a time before coming back for a second go.)

It was your art that drew me in. While reading another Spider Forest comic a couple of years ago, HoK was one of the spotlighted comics, and the thumbnail from the title page was stunningly gorgeous and compelling. I chose not to read it at that time, but went looking for it a few months ago (it was truly memorable, and I wanted it very much!).

You paint a world made of light. My throat actually catches at the beauty in nearly every image.

This time through, I find myself captivated by the reflections on the surface of the car, and how that surface reflects light back onto Ethan and his mother. (Enjoying the details after breathing raggedly as those sweeps of sky unfold.)

The images of Ethan looking into the car window resonate for me with the empty train metaphor.
