That is what I was thinking, could the other man be Ethan’s Dad? Nopsae recognized him because Ethan looks like his Dad when she met him as a child.
Yet there is no indication that his dad ever arrived through the gate. Or how he returned to his own world.

Well, a lot of the ‘snippets’ we got earlier could fit this theory
(that is, if my memory of these snippets serves me well)..
Nopsea as a (cuuuute-as-a-button) little girl, recued. Cariied out of a burning temple (pagoda-looking..) by Ethan’s dad.
Allthough I am not sure that happened in Keol – or an ‘exotic’ location with temple in ‘our’ world..?
And Nopsae *is* a red-gater, but I don’t think we know at what age that happened to her.

If the resque *was* in Keol, dad having found a way ‘back’ would fit with the ‘no-one having seen him’ since.
If he *was* the 8th transcendent -but not *unscathed* by it- his condition could be like a ‘milder’ (less lethal) form of what happened to the brother of the twins!
His PTSD-ish state of mind (hiding scared under the table), Alzheimer-ish confusion (his son/ his dad) – the effect of toxin on his brain…
Physically a shadow-of-his-former-self (we saw him weak and ailing, in the car being about to be taken to a care-home) – the effect of toxin on his body…?

Hmmm Hmmmmmmm… – indeed!

Someone in Keol has seen him, because he (or at least someone who matches his description) is a wanted man for being an illegal Dokkabi! But indeed, that still leaves a whole lot of puzzle pieces waiting…

Answered a few of my questions (or solved mis-rememberences) but still lots more to find out! Please keep up the gooood work!
By the way, nice touch – how the colerfull-hand-magic-fumes from Ethans dad there matched those of the old Master, making Ethan go ‘ooooh’-face, two pages ago…

Well, we certainly don’t know of any imperially unsanctioned Transcendent who have been away from Keol for a while and who have major mental scars from their past. I’m sure they’re just talking about another random non-survivor whom we’ve never seen.
